Make the number comparable
Include the laboratory method, conditioning procedure and unit with the 700 target. A number copied from a competitor’s product label may not describe an equivalent test. Request reports that allow a like-for-like assessment.
Connect loft to the actual product
For a lightweight jacket or sleeping bag, combine the loft target with fill weight, geometry, fabric and a finished-product performance test. A 700 result does not guarantee a temperature rating, packed volume or a specific warmth level.
